Tasty small bites!

Luma is located on Batu Bolong, Canggu. This new restaurant presents the culinary creations of celebrated Chefs Kieran Morland [Merah Putih and Sangsaka] and Cameron Emirali [10 Greek Street, London]. I have a problem with Kieran’s restaurants in that I find it difficult to get past the appetiser section of the menu. Foodie heaven for me is a table of small bites, with contrasting and extreme tastes, something in which  Kieran specialises. A key feature of the interior of Luma is the charcoal grill and custom-made, see-through wood-fire oven, a visual tease to what is on the menu. Together the chefs present simple, rustic dishes that fuse southern European traditions and Indonesian ingredients.  My problem is, as always, how to select a handful of small dishes from a mouth-watering list. Leek & manchego croquettes, Pizzetta, pork sausage, stracciatella, chilli & rapini, Zucchin flowers stuffed with slipper lobster, Quail, sobrassada & romesco, Fern tip & ricotta agnolotti, beef shank ragu and Veal tongue, palm hearts, watercress & baby leeks. If you can handle the mains after that there is Whole lemon sole, asparagus & salsa rosa, Duck breast, turnip tops, salsify, potatoes & mustard beetroots or at the top of the list a Wagyu special of rib-eye and cheek with purple potato gratin & mushrooms.
