Lamak Restaurant
Mawar Cafe & Restaurant.....

Inside or Outside?

The choice is yours?

Inside, in the cool air-conditioned comfort, or outside, al fresco, on the poolside balcony.

All hotels have ?coffee shops?. Most seem as if they are only there because there must be one. At Balihai, the Mawar Coffee Shop really serves a purpose. It has a large variety of cuisines, to suit all tastes, and at amazingly reasonable prices. The prices are even inclusive of all government taxes and hotel service charges, so you will not be confused and caught unawares with a meal cost that causes surprises!

Whether you want a light snack or meal or enough food to feed an army, there is something here for you! You can select from a choice of healthy salads and other vegetarian dishes, plates of seafood, or a variety of meat specials. Even a special Kid?s Menu!

Salads include Pineapple Prawn [prawns in a tomato dip, served in the shell of a half pineapple], Nicoise [tuna, lettuce, tomatoes, potato, olives, eggs and anchovy] and an Indonesian Gado-Gado [garden vegetables with egg, bean curd and tempe, topped with a thick peanut sauce] amongst others.

A variety of soups are available [including Seafood and Tomato, Crème of Mushroom, French Onion or the Indonesian Soto Ayam, spicy chicken with noodles and bean sprouts] burgers and sandwiches [the Club is a triple-decker with chicken, asparagus, bacon, tomato, mustard butter, pickles and mayonnaise, French fries on the side]. The Jumbo Hot Dog is a grilled Frankfurt with sauerkraut, caramelized red onions, French fries and condiments.

Lumpia Goreng are crispy spring rolls, stuffed with chicken, shrimps, vegetables, chilli and ginger, and served with a sweet and sour sauce. Nasi Goreng is fried rice, Indonesian style, with chicken, shrimps and vegetables. Pieces of satay, fried prawns, marinated chicken, egg and shrimp crackers, surround the rice.

Prawn Balado is prawns with garlic, capsicum, onions and ginger, simmered in coconut cream. Ayam Bakar Bawang is grilled marinated chicken with red onions and tomato, with green beans and steamed rice. That international favourite, Sweet and Sour Pork, is crisp crumbed and deep-fried pieces of pork, in a sweet and sour sauce, with rice.

Seafood Spaghetti combines that pasta with prawns, squid, octopus, mussels, tomato, basil and pernod. A Crab Omelette is stuffed with sautéed crab meat and onion. The Tropical Pizza is covered with slices of beef sausage, button mushrooms, cumin, eggplant, chilli, tomato and mozzarella cheese.

The Grilled Cicken Breast has been marinated with fresh herbs, and is then served on Japanese Noodles. Supreme of Chicken Emental is breaded and pan-fried chicken breast that has been stuffed with that distinctive Swiss cheese, Emental, and mushrooms.

The list goes on! The Fish and Chips are light and crispy. Sirloin, Ribeye and Fillet Steaks are served in a variety of ways. Ramen [egg] or Udon [wheat] noodles with vegetables or meat. A Ravioli of spinach, mushrooms and herbs or a Vegetable Tempura.

A large selection to pick from, and all are at excellent value. Even the wine! It makes you glad that you are on holidays?
