Ibu Oka is an institution in Ubud. A streetside small warung, just behind the Bali Banjar, opposite the royal palace. Babi Guling is a Balinese tradition, suckling pigs they call them but in fact they are much older. Many spices and much basting is used during the slow cooking on the spit. Ibu Oka is generally considered to be the very best place in Bali to try this special. The pigs begin to arrive [they are cooked at her house not far away] at about 11.00 a.m., each morning, already there are many people seated at the small warung, waiting. Order the special, best for tourists. You will note that everybody else is eating with fingers and hands, but spoon and fork are available.
